At the beginning of February the official opening of the Instituto Cervantes took place in the heart of Sofia. The Spanish Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia inaugurated the new seat of the Cervantes Institute in the capital. The Bulgarian President Mr.Georgi Parvanov as well as the Sofia Mayor – Mr.Boiko Borisov also attended the opening ceremony, joined by outstanding Spanish writers and publishers.

Created by the Spanish government in 1991 the Instituto Cervantes is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching of Spanish as a second language, as well as the promotion of Spanish culture throughout non-Spanish-speaking countries with headquarters in Madrid and Alcalá de Henares. 

The Bulgarian chapter, the biggest one in Southern Europe, is the most recent addition to the Instituto Cervantes network spreading across 56 cities in 37 countries around the world. 

The beautiful building of the Instituto Cervantes, set on 1 Saborna Str., Sofia is property of ADIS Ltd“I’m glad that we contributed to a certain extent to the establishment of such renown institution here in Bulgaria.” said Mr.Assen Makedonov, CEO of ADIS.
